SORAYA MCKEE DANCE SOCIETY IS PROUDLY REPRESENTED OUTSIDE OUR STUDIO DOORS WITHIN THE VICTORIAN COMMUNITY! 

We have many incredible students within local performing arts production, commercial dance workshops and masterclasses representing SMDS strongly! 

We as a dance society also hold various showcases throughout the year to provide a performance opportunity for all our dancers.

Our annual Mid-Year Showcase is for all by SMDS dancers to strut their stuff and show what they have been working on within term one and term two.

This showcase also stands as a fundraiser for our End of Year Recital! All profits go towards ensuring our recital can be bigger and better each year, providing a high standard experience for all our dancers! 
A day filled with performances, raffles, games and activities plus a delicious BBQ for all families and friends to enjoy!

The final collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, The Sound of Music, has become a beloved musical around the world!
We cannot wait to see Ballarat Lyric Theatre and the creative team bring this classic musical to the Ballarat Stage! 
We are excited to see student, Matilda Jones sharing the role of Louisa Von Trapp. (Hammerstein Cast)
Along side SMDS parent, Samantha Stobie within the ensemble as well the Publicity Manager!

2023 BRENT STREET TOUR

Each year our teachers, Cooper Guinea and Zenaye McKee take part in the intensive Brent Street Workshop. In 2022/23 both Cooper and Zenaye were offered a position within their Full-Time PA and MT Training Courses in Sydney. This year they were taught by Australia's best choreographers! The incredible Cassie Bartho (Commercial Jazz), the fierce Jacob Barr (Hip Hop) and the incredible mind of Paris Cavanagh (Contemporary).

The knowledge/skills they learn within these workshops are such a a great experience that then, they can bring back to our students. This ensure the SMDS students are trained by the best!

NEWSIES JNR
BLOC Music Theatre

Mt Rowan Performing Arts Auditorium 

Newsies is a musical based on the 1992 film Newsies, which was inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City. The show has music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman, and a book by Harvey Fierstein based on the film's screenplay by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White. 

In 2022, BLOC Music Theatre were awarded 6 Victorian Guild Commendations, including 'Best Musical', and 'Best Choreography' by our very own Cooper Guinea in position of Choreographer. In along side SMDS Theatre Arts Vocal Coach, Liam Kelly as Musical Director! Also involved were various SMDS Students within principal roles and the ensemble!
