Ashlyn joined SMDS as our resident relief teacher in 2022 where, after a year of full-time study at Monash University in Melbourne in 2023, she was very quickly offered permanent classes upon her return to Ballarat.

Having trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics and tap since the age of 2, she displayed her love for teaching from an early age, beginning by assisting classes alongside Soraya in her teen years. 

 

Ashlyn also has a love for musical theatre, performing in many productions through BLOC Music Theatre and Loreto College, such as ‘Chicago’, ‘A Chorus Line’, ‘Shrek’, ‘Camp Rock’ and ‘My Son Pinocchio’. 

 

Ashlyn has thrived in the eisteddfod and competition scene for many years in all styles around Australia with many notable awards and placements to her name. 

 

Ashlyn undertook Transit Dance’s extension program for contemporary dance, which enhanced her technical skills immensely. She also danced for Monash University in 2023, bringing home amazing results including Unisport National Champion in the Gold Coast.

Ashlyn is an Acrobatics Arts Association accredited instructor and prides herself on providing safe dance practice and skill tuition across all of our acrobatics classes at our studio.

Alongside her dance teaching commitments, Ashlyn currently works as a support worker at Ballarat High School and continues to study her Bachelor of Pyschology.

 

Ashlyn has a deep love for SMDS and teaching the new generation of young dancers. She can’t wait to share her love and technical knowledge to her students for years to come!
